Looking to bless your ears and feed your brain the sonic genius your favorite musician's recording engineer intended?
If you're sitting, strolling, painting...even mowing the lawn...and you require an Accurate, Un-Tinged reproduction of music as it was recorded, engineered and intended, a set of Sony MDR-7506 headphones are a must. Chances are...the music that you're listening to may have been recorded and mixed using these headphones.
The MDR-7506 boasts a frequency range from 10Hz to 20kHz. In other words, very low frequencies -ie. thumping bass drums, bass guitar, synth sub-sounds, etc. to whispy cymbals, tse-tse high hats, Kate Bush's trills, even the phlegm in someone's throat upon taking another breath can be recognized. Maybe even a problem!
I've owned these headphones for 7 years. Need I say more? Let me say it again. I've owned these headphones for 7 years after having used many other makes and models. If these ever burn out, are crushed under a truck, are thrown off of a bridge or stolen, I wouldn't think twice about replacing them with the same.
Our daughter was born almost 5 years ago, we would rock her to sleep, and then I was a rockstar in my own mind, er ah, in my headphones with
electric guitars, sampling/ rhythm sequencer, accoustic drums (mic'd), synthesizer, recorder/mixer, and assorted sweetened sonic noise toys. I would rock myself to sleep as well without waking anyone up through the night. The next day I could "unveil" the previous night's workout via the room monitors. "AAAhhhh..excellent! Just as I intended!"
These phones have treated me well with clear clean reproduction of what I've put into them. I have also punished myself, rattled my brain as it were.. But was able to recover without medical attention.
The foam padded 'closed ear cups' essentially focus what you're listening to where you want it. Right between your eyes. Close your eyes. . .Yes there it is. I can see it! No! now it's over there. Fans of Pink Floyd, Flaming Lips, Beck, Bjork...JUST TO NAME A FEW! Put down your beer, dim the lights, close your eyes and your mind WILL ride the stereo wave. Undistorted, Un-Colored.
The closed cups also help to prevent ambient (room, yard, gym) sounds from entering your sound-(e)scape. These are not, by the way, considered "Noise Cancelling Headphones". But with the closed cups, and dynamic range...you won't really be paying much attention to anything else.
Another point about volume vs. sound quality and aural health:
With quality sound transducers that are capable of accurately reproducing the complete frequency range of the recording, you will find that you don't have to 'blast' yer phones in order to click your brain into the groove that you know or think ought to be there. Listening through headphones is not like being at a show where you can stand in front of the subs and feel every beat of a kick drum bounce the shirt on your chest.
Headphones are more of a sound quality experience. An.."oh! I've never heard that before..or that way before" kind of experience. Ahhhh! The clarity.
The MDR-7506 phones fold up into about a palm sized package and go neatly into a supplied pouch with drawstring. I wondered about this when I got them. "is this gadgety or what? why do I need to fold these up? How soon before something starts falling apart?" I repeat. I've had these for 6 years...a lot of use..and now have two kids who find and 'play' with them sometimes. I haven't had to address any of my previous doubts or cynicism re: integrity of design.
The cord is an 8'-10' recoil cord with 'UniMatch' plug. Which means it has a 1/8" stereo plug end (for your iPod or video camera) and or a 1/4" stereo plug that screws on over the 1/8" end so you can plug into your home stereo, or your mixing board, synthesizer, or your stereo delay and/or chorus effects pedal for your guitar! Mucho enjoyable!
Not really intended for physical activities. Have lost these off the top of my head from time to time during a few power-chord rock-a-billy rants. Use of a tight knit hat on top of everything helps to prevent this. Whether you're riding a train to work downtown, shoveling your driveway or programming the next hit sensation video game. Built to boom, bop and bash..!
MDR-7506 headphones with pouch -
-unbeatable@under $100.
ps
Don't even mess with those little phones with foamy ear thingys that sort of sit over you ears (if you really want to hear...well..anything).
Ear buds are good if you're jogging or playing tennis. They shouldn't fall out, and won't fall off your head at love 15.

Binoculars – Take A Long View
You can be a hunter or a bird watcher (an ornithologist,) or even military or marine personnel. You can do pretty little without good pair binoculars. But when you want to buy a pair for yourself, you know you can’t hope to cross match the specifications of a bird watchers’ needs with your, a soldier’s, needs.
Considerations before Buying Binoculars
Fundamentally, since you are planning to buy binoculars, it goes imperative that they must match your needs. Binoculars are manufactured to suit specific needs of different professionals. Give a thought to the number of hours you use it on a day to day basis. Naval range finding binoculars are huge and weigh upto 10 tons. Secondly, buying binoculars is a very personal matter; how much weight you are comfortable with, what eyepiece suits you if you are bespectacled and so on.
Consider the Following Points First
Magnification and lens diameters are the fundamental parameters you must consider regardless of the type you require. Binocular of 7x35 means 7 times magnification of the objects than would be possible with naked eyes and the front lens has a diameter of 35 millimeters. Larger the diameter, larger is the field of view but magnification power decreases accordingly. Larger diameter also ensures clarity of pictures which otherwise would appear hazy. Just doubling the diameter quadruples the clarity by increased light gathering.
If your reason for buying binoculars is horse race watching or military surveillance, larger field of view suits better. Field of view signifies the area of vision specified in degrees. To understand the width of view from a distance of 1000 yards, multiply the specified degrees by 52.5.
The glare of lenses is reduced by special coating.
· Plain coating
· Full coating
· Multicoated
· Fully multicoated
Plain coating is very poor, so get yourself binoculars which are at least fully coated.
Check for rubber eyecups if you are bespectacled; next, if the lenses are fitted deep in, the field of view is curtailed even for persons without spectacles. As for focal length, a close range (15-18ft) would do better for birding. So, check whether you can focus your hand to confirm this point.
Zoom function helps adjust the power for birding and military purpose. For such binoculars the power is indicated in ranges like 10-50x50. This means the power ranges from 10 times to 50 which is the maximum.
Finally, what you can’t forget are designs like Porro Prisms, Roof Prisms and pocket designs. The latter is handy owing to small size and weight but images will be darker. Porro prism designs provide larger exit pupils, quick & closer focus, wide field of view. But it’s bulky. Roof prism design offers a lighter, water proofed binoculars but costs a hell.

Best Place To Buy Macbook Cheap -- Finding Hot Deals
There's no doubt in my mind that the new Apple Macbook is one of the best laptops in the market right now. Upon release, I began to scour the internet for some great cheap Macbook deals.
I'll first teach you how to spot one yourself. This applies to any thing that you may want to purchase online.
Things to watchout for:
1) Is it in stock?
There are a lot of online dealers out there allowing you to buy the Macbook online but don't tell you that they don't have it stocked yet in their inventory, so it will actually take some time for you to order. Watch out for these people.
How can you tell? Always look for an authorized dealer. Authorized dealers usually post the information regarding the number of items left in their inventory. If it is a very reputable online site, then it's a safe bet that your future Macbook is ready for shipping.
2) Bonus deals
One of the things people don't know about is that, online dealers usually spice the item up in their online store (if they have a physical one) because they're encouraging online orders! They have to give you a better deal otherwise they would be losing a sale to a physical store such as your local BestBuy.
If you don't get Bonus deals out of it, then you may be better off going to the nearest dealer and actually buy your Macbook there.
3) Rebates
Ahhh Macbook cheap deals should have rebates! Mail-in rebates actually decrease the total cost of your Macbook. So instead of paying let's say $1100, after some time you get your $100 back.
Total cost: $1000...not bad eh?
Again, if there are no rebates... go buy your Macbook somewhere else.
4) Financing Options
A good deal offers a great financing option. Low interest payments per month, 0 payments for a certain period of time, all contribute to the overall Macbook cheap deal. The great thing about financing plans is that you really don't have to spend a big chunk of your cash at one period of time. The idea here is to spread your costs over a relatively longer period of time.
When you do this, you can be productive with your new Macbook, get some cash going, and actually pay for those small amounts over let's say 6,12,18 months?
Where to find all these?
Each and every online store will have different features, different bonuses, etc. One factor to consider is buying from a very reputable website.
I consider Macmall to be the best place to buy a Macbook. When I bought my Macbook I was only able to avail of the $50 rebate but now the rebate is already at $100! What a great deal!
Final Words
The Apple Macbook is one of my best purchases yet. No viruses, no hassles, cool eyecandy, fast and reliable performance, all in one! All my pc-using friends have envied my Macbook for a lot of reasons among them of course is the design of the Macbook, simple, classy, and it doesn't look like all the other laptops out there.
Finally, it's a joy to bring to work. I can type all day long and not feel any eye-strain, I can be sure that my Macbook won't crash on me when I have a big project to do and here's a big plus:
It runs Windows. I can still play games with my friends and switch back to OS X when I want to work! If you're still thinking twice about buying a Macbook. Don't. Stop thinking and just buy it. You'll never regret your purchase.
Super tip:
There's a super tip you can take advantage of right now, I made a site/guide for free so you can purchase your Macbook with ease.

Binding Machine Buying Tips
Whenever you are asked to prepare an annual report or a technical paper, you want it to look as professional as it can be. The same thing is true with client presentations. And aside from making your document look professional, you would also want to protect it with covers so that I can be used for a longer time. There are many applications that can enhance the appearance of documents while protecting it better. Among them are binding machines. Binding machines, or binders, are machines used to align, punch, and enclose individual sheets of papers into document sets. With binding machines, you can make documents look more professional, keep them well protected and lengthen their usage life.
1. Document Protection
Now, all binding can enhance the appearance of documents and protect them from damages. Choosing a binding machine to use for your report or paper, however, is not as simple as just picking any binder you can find in the market. There are many types of binding machines and each type would differ in price, binding method, capacity and a lot of other things. The question now is what kind of binding machine would you want to purchase?
2. What Kind Of Document To Bind?
Different kinds of documents require different styles and not all kinds of binding machines can give your document the binding style it needs. Decide whether your document needs a traditional finish, a book-style finish, a contemporary finish or a finish with some metallic appearance. Then, base your choice on this decision.
3. How Thick?
Each type of binding machine has a limit on the thickness of the document it can bind. Some binding machines can bind documents of up to 3 inches in thickness while others are limited to binding I inch documents.
4. How Will The Machine Be Used?
If the binding machine would be used at home or in a home office, and not regularly at that, then a simple and affordable binding machine would generally be recommended. Larger offices that demands more binding jobs would need some complex and electrical binding machine unit.
5. Binding Machine Options
After you’ve answered all the questions and have eventually determined what kind of binding machine you need for your documents, then it is time for you to consider your options. There are a lot of binding machines available today and each of them has their own set of strengths and weaknesses.
- Coil Spiral Binding Machine
- Plastic Comb Binding Machine
- Wire Binding Machine
- Thermal Tape Binding Machine
6. Coil Spiral Binding Machines
Coil or spiral binding is probably the most recognizable type of binding technology. It is the type of binding that one usually sees in blank notebooks. Coil binding machines are available in table top and floor standing models. These machines are also available in manual or electric configurations. Spiral binding machines bind documents by (1) punching holes on the pages, (2) inserting the coil, and (3) crimping and cutting the coil ends.
- Offers a unique and contemporary finish to documents
- Can bind documents of up to approximately 1 inch in thickness
- Ideal for low volumes of binding and generally used by organizations like schools and churches
7. Plastic Comb Binding Machines
Plastic comb binding machines are among the most popular binding machines today. These binders use a plastic binding with many combs inserted into holes punched along the edge of the stack of papers.
- Offers the best known, traditional finish
- Has the capacity of binding documents of up to 2 inches in thickness
- Easy to use, easy to assemble, durable, economical and reusable
- Ideal for home use as well as in most schools and businesses
8. Wire Loop Binding Machines
Wire loop binds appear like a combination of coil bound and plastic comb bound documents. This is because wire loop machines use wires in double loop design. Once inserted into the document, this wire loop will then be closed by the machine or a separate closer.
- Offers a clean and stylish premium metal finish
- Bind documents of up to 1 inch in thickness
- Ideal for binding presentations, manuals and sales materials
9. Thermal/Tape Binding Machines
Unlike all of the other types of binding machines, tape or thermal binding machines don’t punch holes into the document. And neither do they use inserts to hold the stack of papers together. Instead, these machines use tape or thermal glue to bind the spine of the stack of papers.
- Provides a hole-free, book-style finish
- Can accommodate documents of up to 5 to 500 sheets of paper (or approximately 2.25 inches in thickness
- Ideal for high volume binding jobs or for binding hundreds of document sets per hour.

Best Passwords
No sane person would ever like someone else reading her email. Or for that matter some other person using her password and breaking into a financial institution. You should, therefore, choose a strong, secure password in such a manner that would be a hard nut to crack for others and easy for you to remember. The more random and mixed-up you make it, the harder it is for others to crack. Mind you, if your password is compromised, the password crackers will even take over your identity.
A password, if too short, is vulnerable to attack if an attacker gets hold of the cryptographic hash of the password. Present-day computers are fast enough to try all alphabetic passwords shorter than seven characters. We can call a password weak if it is short or is a default, or which can be rapidly guessed by searching a subset of all possible passwords such as words in the dictionary, proper names, words based on the user name or common variations on these themes.
On the other hand, a strong password would be sufficiently long, random, or which can be produced only by the user who chose it, so that 'guessing' for it will require too long a time.
For maximum security, the user should follow some simple guidelines:
1) Passwords should preferably be at least 8 characters long and not more than 14.
2) Passwords should contain a mix of numbers, letters, and special characters (%&3ac_ht4@m7).
3) Passwords should not contain a dictionary word from any dictionary, be it French, Spanish, medical, etc.
4) Each password should be different from the user's User-ID and any permutation of that User-ID.
5) New passwords and old passwords should differ by at least 3 characters.
6) Avoid picking names or nicknames of people, pets, or places, or personal information that can be easily found out, such as your birthday, address etc.
7) It’s wise to stay away from common keyboard sequences, such as dfgh678 or abc345 .
8) Never form a password by appending a digit to a word. That can be easily guessed.
9) Avoid writing your password down or storing it on your computer.
10) Never share your password with anyone else.

Best Features Of A Digital Camera
It takes one around and through the digital camera so one knows how it works and what its features are used for as there are hundreds of links to the best sources and products so you can learn even more. There is a great variety in cameras for example the one for the beginners has E-TTL II for stable flash exposures and improved White balance compensation for the clarity of the picture. To store these cameras there is a specially designed carry case with internal pockets large enough to hold money or credit cards.
Zoom cameras:
Zoom cameras are used for a better picture and better efficiency by moving the sensor itself to give a better quality of picture. There is an image processing technology, which gives users images as beautiful as those they see with their own eyes and this makes the camera a special one. Some cameras can be described in a sentence by quoting that Good things come in small packages like this digital camera. Most of the good quality cameras are clear, high-quality prints so that one can capture the picture in a better way.
Small cameras:
The best part of a small digital camera is that this digital camera is smaller than a matchbox and stores a lot of pictures in its internal memory. Most of the manufacturers have a latest sensor, the all-new eight mega pixels four-color there was ignorance to all other changes that made a formidable combination with a high quality mechanically linked zoom lens. There are many spy cameras with functions that can be of a great use and chief among them it's super compact size and as it is of the size that is as small as a credit card that is beneficial for users to carry.

Benefits Of Digital Linear Tape Drives
In our world where data is power, large companies put a high priority on their data back-up and data storage. Unfortunately, this kind of data storage is typically very expensive and impractical for the small home PC user. Luckily, with the introduction of two new formats of digital storage that are now available, there is a solution. With the DLT or Digital Linear Tape and the LTO or Linear Tape Open, the need for data storage has far exceeded past levels (as compared to previous had 8mm or DDS backups).
1. Recent Boost In Performance
The Digital Linear Tape or DLT systems have been available for use to everyone since 1985, and recent increases in both speed and capacity has given this technology a new lease on life. In fact, they have been the leading technology in the past several years for small to medium-sized systems. The only competitors for DLT were DDS or DAT tapes. The advantage of DLT tapes above these two leading competitors is that the tape heads had a tendency to drift that meant technicians had to constantly monitor them to ensure storage. Unlike DLT reliability that is based on a straight up and down recording mode.
2. Super DLT
A newer version with higher capacity and improved features is called Super DLT (SDLT). Super DLT uses a new recording format, but it also maintains a limited form of backwards compatibility with previous iterations of DLT. It incorporates the ability to read older tapes, although it cannot write to them. This means it would probably be quite useful in allowing organizations to maintain their present archives in a useable form. This would mean that there can be a very big saving both in time and money for companies because older tapes don't have to be re-recorded onto newer ones.
4. Tremendous Boost In Speed And Capacity
With the introduction of Super DLT earlier this year, the capacity has soared as much as 110 gigabytes on one cartridge, at a speed of 10 megabytes per second. A tremendous boost in performance was seen with the speed of backup doubled, and capacity more than doubled, the technology is now capable to handle large systems and networks that DLT previously couldn't handle. Competing technologies can offer very fast backups, but the tapes themselves contain very little data - hundreds of megabytes as opposed to the hundreds of gigabytes that DLT offers.
5. Linear Tape Open
Another technology that has recently emerged that is comparable, if not a bit more advanced than DLT is LTO or Linear Tape Open. A consortium product from Seagate, IBM and Hewlett-Packard. LTO can put 100 gigabytes on a cartridge and can store data at speeds up to 15 megabytes per second. But there are a lot who still prefer to use the more known and reliable Super DLT. There are very cautious system administrators who don't wish to try LTO, one technician even said that DLT is a more than acceptable choice: Thirty million cartridges and a million tape drives can't be wrong. Of course, LTO can’t be totally neglected. Of course, Super DLT uses a good deal of new technology as well, so even though LTO is a completely new technology, it has able to pave a nice pathway for it that may help establish itself for future preference.
6. Long Life
These kinds of storage media are guaranteed to last for 30 years of data retention under very specific environmental conditions; however, mishandling can easily damage these storage devices for example, dropping or improper packaging during shipment may easily damage or destroy the device’s capability to store data properly. With today's ever increasing demands for storage capacity because of our need to protect and store our data, it is possible that there is going to be more pressure on hardware developers to produce a lot more faster and bigger storage and backup devices to back up, store, protect and retrieve important data be it business or personal. Now both medium and small size users are given a choice: Super DLT, based on generations of thorough development and refinement, or LTO, a new technology from a high-powered and stable group of advance technological companies.
Becoming A DVD Repair Expert Online
Many conventional colleges and universities are now offering online DVD repair courses, which are the exact same as those taught on a traditional college campus, to distance learners. Online education is generally taught through the use of several different methods, including online satellite feeds, correspondence or online lessons. This technique permits the student to obtain a DVD repair degree without ever having to step inside of a classroom. An online education, providing that it is granted by a regionally accredited college or university, is broadly accepted as worthy training for any job in the direct field of study.
Online education is approachable in many ways, but students often neglect the fact that it is much more economical than a traditional campus degree. Why? When factoring in the costs associated with student housing & meals, which often begins at a total of $6,000 or more every year, the savings are evident. With an online DVD repair education, students pay only for the courses that they are taking and they often choose to do so on a per credit hour basis rather than paying the full tuition each year.
The type of distance education degree that everyone should abstain from is what is known as a ‘diploma mill.’ In exchange for a specified sum of money, which is often $1,000.00 or more, they will issue a life experience degree with little or no investigation into the applicant’s background. These businesses often feature a very professionally designed website and appear to be very much legitimate. In fact, they even guarantee potential students that they are issuing legal degrees. Upon further examination of these so-called colleges, students will learn that they can even purchase a transcript with any letter grade that they choose. But, what is the basis for the grade? No classes were ever required, no tests taken and no valid grades were issued. Individuals who are interested in earning a legitimate degree should be very wary of any college or institution that offers to provide a life experience degree based only on the word of applicant and does little, or no, investigation into the student’s background.
The truth is that the only actual way to receive life experience credit is to take the CLEP test, which is given periodically at local colleges and universities. In addition, a number of universities are willing to accept portfolio assessments in exchange for possible life experience credit. These are legitimate ways to earn life experience, or knowledge-based, DVD repair college credit.

Be Smart - Partition Your Drive.
Being in the computer field for some years, I've seen many people being afraid to save data on their computers. People are so paranoid, but don't really know what to do unless they're willing to spend a little time to learn about the box with a cup holder built into it (CD ROM tray)=0).
Anytime I build a computer or reinstall Windows on someone's computer, I always partition the hard drive into C: and D:. Partitioning is the process in which is installing one hard drive and making your computer see itself as having two hard drives. The C drive is always going to be the Primary Partition and the D and any other drive letter is always going to be a Logical Partition. He or she can use the FDISK utility in a Windows 98 Boot up floppy (XP already has the utility in the install cd and will ask if you want to create partitions)to create two partitions in one hard drive. This is good practice because when something goes wrong with Windows, all the data that's saved in the D drive is in tact since Windows is installed in the C drive (remember, your computer is thinking that it has two hard drives instead of one).
Another good practice is to buy an external hard drive, Zip, or a tape drive depending on how large your data is, to have extra backup just in case, which is rare but does happen, the partition gets corrupted and the Logical drive is no longer there. I always tell my clients to save data that is critical to be on an external drive and to turn it off or at least take the connection out from the computer after every backup session, so that in case there's a total system crash, or a hacker getting into the system, the data is not there to be damaged or tampered with.

BBC Banned Music: Top Singles Banned By the BBC
The British Broadcasting Corporation also known as the BBC is a public broadcasting corporation. Therefore, it allows itself to ban materials that deviate from certain standards of civility. During the years, many singles that were seen as too explicit, distasteful or bear the potential for offending the British public were banned from BBC airplay. Here you can read about some of them.
In 1977, when England was celebrating the Queens Jubilee, the Sex Pistols had released their second single titled God Save the Queen. The single includes controversial lyrics that rhyme the national anthem title with fascist regime. Moreover, the record cover displayed a picture of the Queen with a safety pin stuck in her nose.
The single was found to offensive to be air played by the BBC, but it did not stop it from reaching number two on the BBC official singles chart. According to the myth, God Save the Queen was the top selling single in the UK at the time, but it was held back of number one to avoid controversies.
Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin scandalous duet Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus, translated: I love you... me neither, was the first ever number one hit to be banned by the BBC. Although at the time of its release, in 1969, the sexual revolution was celebrated, the British radio still was not able to cope with such explicit lyrics, not to mention Birkins moans and groans.
The BBC ban and The Vatican denounce, did not stop Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus from being a top selling single in the UK and worldwide. In October 7, 1969, the single reached number one in the BBC official singles chart. At the same time, it had reached number 69 at the US singles chart.
Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus was a major influence on another BBC banned single, Donna Summers disco pioneer from 1976 titled Love to Love You Baby. After counting 23 faked orgasms performed by Summer in Love to Love You Baby, the British Broadcasting Corporation banned the song. However, it did not stop it from becoming a massive hit. Love to Love You Baby reached number four on the UK single charts but peaked to number two on the Billboard pop chart.
Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is one of the most controversial singles as well as commercially successful singles in history. The BBC did not only ban the song it also did not stop BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read to publicly express his feelings of disgust from the single's explicit lyrics. In 1984, Relax stayed in the UK singles charts for 42 weeks. In five of them, it stayed in number one. By the end of 1984, embarrassed Auntie Beeb removed the ban. Relax is still very popular worldwide and it is one of the most recognized symbols of the era. The arguments on whether it gained such a huge success despite the BBC ban or the BBC ban helped promoting it have not been settled yet.
Paul McCartney and the Wings response to the 1972 Bloody Sunday events titled Give Ireland Back to the Irish, was banned by every media resource in the UK. It was forbidden from being broadcast by the BBC, Radio Luxembourg and the Independent Television Authority. In addition, the song title was not allowed to be pronounced on the air, so when it arrived to the BBC Radio 1 chart show it was presented as a record by the group Wings. However, Give Ireland Back to the Irish hit the top of the Irish singles charts.

Battery Sizes And Types
In both science and in technology, a battery is used as a type of device that is used to store energy, making it available for use in an electrical form. They consist of electrochemical devices, including one or even more galvanic cells.
Baghdad Batteries are thought to be the first known in history, dating back from sometime between the years of 250 BCE and 640 BCE. The modern battery began with the Voltaic pile, which was developed by Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist, in 1800. As of a 2005 estimate, the battery industry generates, no pun intended, around 48 billion dollars in annual sales.
Batteries can be divided into two main categories, rechargeable batteries and non-rechargeable, or disposable, batteries.
Disposable batteries are also known as primary cells. They are intended for a one time use only, to be used until the chemical changes used to induce its electrical current supply have been finished. Their common usages include smaller, more portable devices that have either a low current drain or are used away from any alternative power source.
Rechargeable batteries, also known as secondary cells, have a longer usage life since they can be recharged after their power has been drained. You can do so by applying an externally supplied electrical current. This causes a reversal in the chemical changes that occur during the battery’s use. These devices used to do this are commonly known as rechargers or chargers.
The ‘wet cell,’ or lead-acid, battery is the oldest form of the rechargeable battery that is still in today’s use. This battery contains a liquid found in an unsealed container that requires the battery to be kept in an upright position. The area in which it is used must be well-ventilated so as not to cause the ventilated, hydrogen gas to display its explosive qualities.
The lead-acid battery is quite heavy, although its cost to manufacture is low and the high surge content levels allow it to be a commonly used battery in places where its weight and handling ease are not of any concern.
The most common form of a lead-acid battery is the car battery.
A gel battery is known to be an expensive lead-acid battery type, containing a semi-solid electrolyte that is used to prevent spillage.
The portable types are considered to be ‘dry cells.’ They are sealed units that are useful in appliances such as cell phones and laptop computers. These types of cells also include, nickel-cadmium or NiCd, nickel metal hydride or NiMH, and lithium-ion or Li-Ion, listed in the order of their increasing power density and also their cost.
Both disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries come in various standard sizes. This is so they can easily be used in a wider amount of appliances. The most commonly known types of batteries are the A-series, including A, AA, AAA, and AAAA. Also known are B, C, D, F, G, J, and N. Other variants include 3R12, 4R25, PP3, PP9, and the 996 and PC926 that are used in lanterns. There are many, many more less common battery types, and their usages vary greatly.

Batteries Q&A: Understanding Different Types Of Batteries
What are the different types of batteries?
Batteries are grouped in two ways. It is by application and by the process of construction. The major type of application batteries are the automotive, marine, and deep cycled. While the construction type are flooded, gelled and AGM.
The deep cycled types of batteries have a capacity for solar electric for back up energy. As for a technical description... Compared to AGM battery, this type has a starve electrolyte or dry mechanism. Most of the application batteries are made of fiberglass mat with a high-density compound of sulfuric acid, which applies a “no excess liquid” compounds.
Construction batteries have a standard and removable cap. It is sometimes called as maintenance-free battery. It also has a regulated sealed valve. The valve contributes the slight regulated pressures.
For a complete chart of all types of batteries, see the link in the author's signature.
* What is a DC battery?
Direct current is a kind of electricity supplied. By using a DC battery, the electric charge moves in a single direction. It can cause an imbalance to the electric charges.
The side of the DC battery is sealed with electrolyte and several forms of metal. The electrolytes have a different form of electrons, which is positively charge.
The terminal of the battery has positive and negative poles. These poles are connected which each other. The current flows with the connection of the poles.
* What are sealed batteries?
Sealed batteries are non-spoilable and a maintenance-free battery. They have no liquid, therefore, there is no corrosion. A sealed battery has a characteristic of low self-discharging and cracking amperage.
A sealed battery is designed to supply both starting and reserve applications. It has a longer life and more competent outline. Most of the sealed batteries are used in order to have a more “cost cutting” battery and to minimize the price to the user.
* What is a deep cycle battery?
A deep cycle battery usually has a thick, heavy lead plate. This plate helps the battery withstand deep charging. It cannot dispense a charge rapidly compared to a starter battery. It can also be used to initiate combustion in engines. It is a kind of battery with a longer life span because of its thick plates.
* What is a starting battery?
A starting battery is intended for engines for combustion to continue without interruption. It has multiple thin plates which enable it to release a large amount of current very quickly for just a small amount of time.
On the other hand, a starting battery cannot stand being discharged deeply. The majority of the starter batteries can only withstand a complete discharge a few minute before spoiled.
* What is a gel cell battery?
A gel battery is also called a gel cell. It has a quantity of silica gel that converts the acids into a solid mass. The great benefit of these batteries is that it is unfeasible to drip acid even if they are broken.
This kind of battery charges slowly. They cannot cope up with the conventional automotive charger. The current flow is also limited. Furthermore, they can be damaged easily.
* What is an AGM battery?
AGM stands for “Absorbed Glass Mats.” It is the newest type of sealed battery that is used between plates. The plates are composed of a very fine fiber made of Boron and Silicon glass. This kind of battery has the same features as a gelled type, but it can take more of a discharge.
It does not spill out evenly if it is broken. Glass mats assist in holding together the acid and electrolytes. It is also immune from spilling damage because it has no liquid on its inner layer.

Basics Of A Router
Router is a computer device that receives or forwards data packets to and from the Internet towards a destination in the process called routing. Router is the essential component of the computer networking that enables any sent data to arrive at the right destination.
As an illustration, imagine that the Internet is the world and one computer is one household. Other computers connected through the Internet are households around the world. Say one household will send a letter to another household in any part of the world. The letter has an address right? And that address would determine the destination of the letter. But without one reading the address, the letter would not arrive to the right receiver. The letter also would not be able to reach the intended receiver if there is not medium. This medium would be the courier. And the courier of the computer data is the router.
A router (broadband router) is also a device that enables two or more computer to receive data packets from the Internet under one IP address at the same time.
Remember that to be able to connect to the Internet, a computer must have an IP address unique from the rest of the computers. Therefore, every computer connected to the Internet has it own IP address. It is like having a fingerprint or ID as an access pass to be able to enter the web. With the presence of the router, this “fingerprint” or “ID” could be shared by two or more computer at the same time.
In simplest form, a router makes two or more computer use the Internet at the same with one access pass.
One more thing: a computer with cable modem could also be considered as a router. In this, the computer would do the process of routing like normal routers do. Other computers are then connected to the computer with Internet connection that would give it with the Internet connection. The computer with cable modem has the direct contact with the Internet and the ones connected to it are sharing the connection.
Why would anyone need a router?
For households with two or more computers who would want to have Internet connection to every computers they have, taking subscription for each would be too much. The solution is to buy a router that would enable every computer in the house to have an Internet connection. In the definition above, the broadband router would act as a hub to the existing Internet connection.
If the router is comparable to a hub, would it affect the Internet speed?
It should be taken into consideration that once a single Internet connection is divided, the connection speed is affected. But there are some broadband routers that would bring minimal slowdown to the Internet speed and the effect might not even be big.
Internet speed would also depend on the type of application used in a router. While some would inflict little effect on the speed like online games, others would terribly slowdown your connection and even hinder you to use the Internet at all.
Usually, offices use a more sophisticated router to redirect Internet connections to the large number of computers. These routers would give better data packeting compared to a typical router used at home that results to faster Internet speed.

Basic Changes To Make In Your Internet Explorer Options
Most people get their computer with Internet Explorer already installed and set to all the default settings. The default settings are what Microsoft calls “recommended settings”. These settings are not always the best for your usage. One size does not always fit all. But how do you change the settings and what do they all mean? I’m glad you asked...
In this article I am going to take you step by step through these settings to explain them to you. Open a new browser window before you start, so you can follow these steps as you read the article. At the top of your new browser window, click on “tools” then “Internet Options”.
The first tab you will see is the “general” tab. The very first option you have is where to set your home page. Type in http://forum.dugancom.com/. I’m just kidding. That is my website. Pick a website that you want your browser to open to every time you go online. If you have a favorite search engine, put it there. If you have a home page enter that. Hit apply when you have done this and that will be your home page from now on. Anytime you hit the home button at the top of your browser it will automatically go to that page.
The next option you have is to “delete cookies”. There is a lot said about how to manage cookies and what they are for on the Internet. But for the purposes of this article I will just tell you that cookies store information like websites where you want to be automatically logged in rather than having to type in a username and password every time. There are other cookie uses and hopefully I will have time to write about that in another article. If you delete the cookies, you will have to login to websites you use often and it won’t remember your username etc.
The next button says “delete files”. These are the temporary files Internet Explorer stores on your hard drive so if you go back to them they will load faster because the images and other files are already downloaded. Later we will get to another area with a setting that will help you manage this. You can go ahead and delete these files if you want to and every now and then you should.
The next button is called “settings”. Click on that button now. It says, “Check for newer versions of stored pages... “ then gives you several options. Clicking “every visit to the page” will cause pages to load slower because rather than going into the temporary Internet files for cached files, it queries the server for the newest version of any files on that page.
“Every time I open Internet Explorer” means that the first time you visit that website, “this session”, it will check for a newer version of the page. After that, it will refer to the cached page on your hard drive. “Automatically” means you let Internet Explorer manage this for you and that is the recommended setting. “Never” means it will always use the cached version on your hard drive rather than check for newer versions.
I recommend either auto or never, because if you want to check for newer versions of a page all you have to do is push shift and hit the refresh button on your browser tool bar.
The next option in settings is how much space to allow for temporary Internet files. Five to Twenty megabytes is plenty. Internet Explorer tends to override your choice here anyway. Bill knows best I guess.
The next button is “move folder”. Don’t click that. Back away slowly and do not touch that button. It sends nuclear missiles at several minor countries. Seriously, moving the location of your temporary Internet files is not a good idea. The next button, “view files” is pretty boring stuff and you don’t need to do anything here. The same can be said for “view objects”. Those three can all be left alone.
Go ahead and click ok so we can go back to the general tab. You will see the next option is about computer history. Now this is a personal choice. You know how links you have clicked on before are a different color than those that you have not clicked on? Well history remembers that for you so you know which pages you have or have not visited. It also records the history of all the websites you or anyone else on your computer has visited. In your address bar, the drop down arrow that shows you all the websites you have been to is put there by the “history” option. It is also used if you have auto-complete enabled for web addresses you are typing into your address bar.
You can set this for the number of days you want to save history for. If you have kids, you can access these files to see where they are going on the Internet as well. If you are using a computer at work you might want to set this to 1 day. To the right of where you enter the number of days is the button to erase history now. Computer experts can still find your history. This is not absolute.
Next button is “colors”. The best setting is “use windows colors, but experiment if you want to. Next button is “fonts” and if you click on that, it’s pretty self-explanatory. This is not where you choose font size. That is in the “view” part of your browser rather than the “tools” area we are in now. “Languages” is also self-explanatory. “Accessibility” is where you can alter settings if you have special needs.
Ok, now let’s move on to the “Security” tab. “Medium” is the best setting for most users and probably is already set there. Be careful when changing security options that you do not understand. Click “custom level”. Scroll through. If there are things you are absolutely sure about and want to change, then do so. But if you are not sure, don’t change it.
You will see that when we first came to the tab the “Internet” icon was selected in the window at the top. You can also click on “Local Internet” and do the same for your settings there. This is for your local network if you have one. The next icons are, “trusted sites” and “restricted sites”. You can add websites to either area that you wish to allow or disallow no matter what other settings are on your computer. This is one way to block your child from visiting a particular website.
Go to the next tab at the top called “privacy”. Now this is another area where you need to be careful and understand what you are changing before doing so. This is probably already set to “medium” which is fine for most users. The “import” button probably doesn’t apply to you. Click the “advanced” button. Everything here is probably grayed out except the option to check override cookie handling.
Automatic settings mean that you accept both first party and third party cookies. That means you accept cookies from the website you are visiting and from any other websites that the website you are visiting has chosen to set cookies on your hard drive like their advertisers or others who want to track user’s habits.
Click ‘override automatic cookie handling”, then check “block” for the third party cookies and you will block some spyware or adware being placed on your system. If you want to block cookies from a particular website or you want to only allow cookies from specific websites, this is where you add those websites.
Next, we go to the “Content” tab. Again, this is an area that you need to know what you are changing before you change anything. You can click “enable” for content advisor. The first slider bar can be changed to block different types of content. First you can start with types of language you wish to block, then nudity, sex, and violence by clicking the icons in the window and using the slider bar. The “more info” button will help you understand this more.
The “approved sites” tab at the top will let you enter websites that you want to access regardless of the settings you just made with the slider bar. On the “general” tab, you should click allow websites that have no rating because not all websites are rated. You can also check the box that says a supervisor, you, can use a password to access restricted websites.
If you share your computer with your children, this is an option where you can visit restricted websites but they cannot. Be careful when setting this password. If you forget it, you will not be able to make changes to these settings later. If you lose this password, you have to know how to go into the registry to get it removed. Unless you know about rating systems, you don’t need to worry about the two buttons at the bottom of this tab or the “advanced tab”.
Click ok to make any changes you made and to enter a password if you decided you wanted one. If you understand about “certificates” and “publishers” then you don’t need my help here. If you don’t understand them, leave those buttons alone.
Click the “autocomplete” button. This is pretty easy to understand. Autocomplete works to help you not have to type the same information on forms and in your Internet Explorer address bar. You can also clear any previous information here. Click prompt me to save passwords and it will ask you each time you enter a password if you want Internet Explorer to remember your password for this website so you don’t have to type it in every time. I don’t recommend you allow it to remember banking and financial passwords.
“My Profile” is where you can enter information about yourself and use that whenever asked for your profile on a website or it can be automatically accessed by some applications saving you time.
Now, click the “connections” tab. If you are currently connected to the web and reading this article, then it is safe to assume your settings here are correct and you should leave them alone.
Click the “programs” tab at the top. There are drop down menus to help you set the default program for each of the tasks. This is a personal choice that will let you set your default web browser, html editor, and email program.
Now we reach the “advanced” tab at the top. Scary hunh? No, this area is mostly personal choices and your choices don’t have near the serious consequences of your settings in “content”, “privacy”, and “security”.
Most of the choices should be left where they are as the default settings. I will only talk here about the ones you may want to change. Do not check notification for EVERY script error unless you want to be annoyed a lot. Not every script in every webpage is error-free and there will be a lot of popups about them if you check that box.
Notify me when downloads complete if checked will give you a sound when a download is done. Underline links is a personal choice. I leave it set on always so I know when I see a link. The next ones again are a choice of whether you want to use Autocomplete.
You can scroll through the rest of the choices and change the ones you understand. Likely if you don’t understand an option you don’t need to change it anyway. I hope this article has been helpful to you and has helped you personalize your settings rather than have Bill Gates do it for you.
In this article I am going to take you step by step through these settings to explain them to you. Open a new browser window before you start, so you can follow these steps as you read the article. At the top of your new browser window, click on “tools” then “Internet Options”.

Bag Those Apples
Honestly, I'm not a bag person. I don't even know the difference between a tote and a handbag. (Wait, they are different, right?) Anyway, I don't like carrying bags and my general rule is, if I can't fit it in my pocket, it's not going with me. However, all these changed when I went freelance and got myself an Apple laptop. I mean, I carry my business with me, and often I need to give presentations to prospective clients. Apple would give me the sophistication I lacked. Back to bags, a friend gave me one as a gift to my new freelance business. I told him that I don't need nor want one. Then he asked me the question I haven't even thought about. How am I going to carry my laptop? I gave him a grin and asked for the bag back. Call these things anything you want: computer bags, laptop bags, laptop cases, computer carrying case, laptop carrying case; I call them lifesavers. I am now a proud owner of three: black, checked, and in print.
Laptop bags are essential bags you use to carry your laptop around. Thinking that you're old backpack would do? Think again, because computer bags, laptop bags, laptop cases, computer carrying case, laptop carrying case, and other gadget carrying cases are made specifically for carrying electronics. This means that they have features that your ordinary bag can't match. First, they are usually made with leather, or other waterproof material so water can't get in to your thousand-dollar Apple during a downpour. This will also keep your computer safe against accidental spills which can damage your whole system. Second, they have built-in padding and other shock absorbing material so your laptop does not absorb the sudden shock when dropped. These padding would also cushion your laptop when if you set it quickly or suddenly on the ground or tabletop. Third, a computer case would also protect your laptop from dust, smoke particles, or other foreign debris. This is especially a necessity when you are moving out and taking your computer to your new home. You can cover your home computers with computer bags. Do this to avoid exposing it to extreme temperature, foreign debris, and humidity during the course of your move. Fourth, computer bags usually features different compartments for your other computer accessories. This is a lot different from a normal bag wherein compartments are usually big pockets where smaller objects can't help but roll around. Computer or laptop bag compartments usually a special storage for wires, tools, mouse, adaptor, a webcam and even batteries. These hooks and individual pockets prevent wire tangles and rolling around of objects.
Though computer bags, laptop bags, laptop cases, computer carrying case, laptop carrying case, and other gadget carrying cases come in varying kinds, it is important to choose good quality bags. They may be more expensive but you are assured of better protection for your laptops and computers. They are also long wearing and with proper use, can even last you for years. They are also easily available through the Internet and gadget stores. Invest in a good quality bag and you save yourself hundreds of dollars from computer repairs.

Backup Tape Usage and Replacement Schedule
Backup Tape Usage and Replacement ScheduleDuring the tape backup process, the tape backup media is moved across read/write heads, alignment rollers and drive rollers. Each pass through the tape drive wears away a small amount of the oxide coating used to store the data. A worn tape may backup and verify without error only to fail when a file needs to be restored. The trick is to maximize the use of the tape without allowing it to wear out.
Our recommended backup tape usage and replacement schedule is derived from input from hundreds of users, tape and drive manufacturers' recommended replacement schedules, and years and years of monitoring tape life and backup integrity.
In short..It works.
The schedule includes, at any time, 12 tapes. The tapes are labeled as follows:
1) Monday 5) Friday 1 9) Quarter 1
2) Tuesday 6) Friday 2 10) Quarter 2
3) Wednesday 7) Friday 3 11) Quarter 3
4) Thursday 8) Friday 4 12) Quarter 4
The Monday through Thursday tapes are used as expected. On Fridays, one of 4 tapes is used. The Friday 1,2,3 and 4 tapes are used consecutively so that you always have a backup more than 1 week old. We have witnessed situations where a virus has infected a network, and corrupted files. Only going back to a pre-infection backup allows rebuilding of such files, and it often takes a few days to detect or identify such infections.
The quarter 1,2,3 and 4 tapes are used at the end of each of your fiscal quarters. These tapes are usually tapes close to the end of their service life. This will be the last use for this tape.
This rotation schedule requires purchasing four new tapes each year. At the time of purchase, the tapes are rotated into different roles. Each Friday tape is set aside awaiting a quarterly backup role. Monday to Thursday tapes are advanced to Friday 1, 2, 3, and 4 roles. 4 new tapes are introduced into the Monday - Thursday roles.
This schedule involves using each tape 66 times. We have found this to be a reasonable life expectancy for most backup tapes. The schedule gives you several levels of protection should a loss or corruption occur.
Keep in mind the tapes need to be kept warm and dry and at least the weekly and quarterly tapes off site.

Backup Schedule: Learn How Often To Backup
If you backup, you are one step away from a disaster. If you backup often, make it several steps. Learn how often to backup and how to make your own backup schedule.
Surely, one can backup to whatever backup medium he wants, but if one does not stick to a backup schedule, most of the efforts, aimed at storing or securing the important information will be spent in vain.
First, we need to figure out what we are backing up, as the backup schedule largely depends on the size of the backup data:
- small amounts of data (important work documents) can be backed up often, hourly, daily and at least weekly
- medium amounts of files (e-mail messages, project documents and work documents) can be backed up daily, weekly or monthly (at least)
- large amounts of data (e-mail messages, project documents, data files, settings files, etc) can be backed up weekly or monthly
- huge amounts of data (all of the above plus images, audios - mp3s and videos - mpegs) can be backed up monthly or yearly
- total backup (a backup of all the data on the computer) can be backed up weekly, monthly or yearly.
Which backup schedule to choose is up to you, but you will also need to choose a backup software to do that and set up the time when to perform a scheduled backup.
First of all, the backup software needs to support the backup medium you want to backup (CD, DVD, FTP, LAN, external USB or flash drive, etc). Next, you select the files you want to backup, choose the time you want to backup and leave it there. Some programs can run as a service and don't need to be launched, but some need to be running when you want the backup to be run. At any case, the computer has to be on at the time of your backup schedule.
Think the time of a backup schedule doesn't matter? What if it runs during your work day and slows down your work computer for an hour or two? To keep working _and_ to stick to the backup schedule, simply set the backup to run a couple of hours before or after your working time. This way you won't be interrupted with a scheduled backup.

Backing Up Your Website - Essential Advice
More and more webmasters nowadays do not value the importance of a complete website backup (files and databases). They have left this to chance and good luck which poses a great risk to their online presence.
Can you relate to this? Then read this important article which might save you an arm and a leg later.
Web site backup is the most ignored task of the webmasters simply because it poses no immediate threat to them until something worse happen to their hosting server. Many times, this task is set aside, delayed and even regarded as nuisance to the busy website owner.
They just don't realize what is at stake here.
So before your website will be wiped out of the internet by unexpected accidents like server breakdowns, harddisk failures, hacking and DDOS attacks among other bad things, let me share with you the 10 Backup E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L-S you should not live without online.
EXPECT - Know that your webhosting company (even the biggest and the most boastful out there) may encounter problems and that your diligence to backup up will pay off later on. Online computing has never been so unpredictable that the worse of times will happen when you least expect it. With the proper mindset, you are insuring the continuity of your online endeavour in any eventualities. In short, be ready.
SCHEDULE - Your backup process should not compete with your busy schedules. Create your own backup schedule at the most convenient time for you in the week. If you're like me, I do this during lunch and dinner times. Sometimes, I have to leave my PC overnight working on the backups. If you can make it not to conflict with your busy schedules, you will be able to keep up with the demands of this job. In short, don't complicate.
STICK with it - Just do it. Patience is key to your backup tasks. Once you have a schedule, stick with it. You must do this diligently every time it should happen. This is a tough challenge especially to busy people working online. But the sooner you discipline yourself and make backing up your files a habit, the more you will benefit from a worry-free online environment. In short, get a good habit.
EVALUATE - After a while, test your backup files. A good backup can be tested by simply restoring it on another system. Evaluating your backup results from time to time is good way to know that you are keeping what you should keep - a good and working backup. In short, be sure.
NO Complacency - After some time, your backup schedule may slip away and you will tend to forget or intentionally miss it. Don't succumb to this temptation. Man has never been so busy in his lifetime like it is today in this era of the high tech trends, new developments and discoveries. In short, don't be lazy to backup.
TRASH - Know which files to keep and not to keep. You need to do this to keep your backup process as short and as efficient as possible. It also saves you valuable resources like hard disk space and backup mediums. Backup only what you need. Keep out the trash and dump it. In short, don't sweat with the trash.
INTUITION - Have faith in your backup results. Believe that what you are doing is for your own good later on. Like vitamins that keep your body healthy, backups keeps your mind away from stress and worries. A good working backup will make you smile even on the worst of times because you are insured by your patience. In short, believe in good results.
AUTOMATE - Look for alternatives to traditional backup process that can make your life simpler. There are several technologies and softwares you can use now to generate the fastest and safest backup files you will need to restore in case of emergency without you lifting a finger. Automation is king in this lazy man's world. In short, be efficient.
LIBERATE - Free yourself from worries and anxiety of theunexpected. A death sentence that can be prevented will not kill you. So think about what you can do more (like sleepingmore at night) than to think about what harm may come. With your own backup systems established, you can retire at night calmly knowing the next day, if you don't see your websites as you should, you know you can pubish it back within the day even if your webhost cannot recover it for you. In short, relax and enjoy life to the max.
SECURITY - Nothing beats the feeling of being secured. This is the reason why the insurance businesses have flourished over the years. But more importantly, your commitment to backup your files will not only save you from stress, humiliation, frustration, anger and guilt, but also lift your spirit and confidence because you know at the end of the day, your self reliance is well worth it.
And that, my friend, is a great and wonderful feeling.

10 Easy Steps To A Safe And Smooth Running PC
These ten steps will help you increase your computer's security. From discovering viruses to learning how to avoid them, this article is a must read!
Windows password This is the easiest way to make sure you know who is using your pc. Choose a lengthy password that contains capital and lower case letters. Including a number or two will greatly increase your security. Having a Windows password means that the only people that can log onto a Windows session are people that you have granted access to.
Password manager You should never write your passwords down. Using the same password all the time will also make it very easy for hackers to reach your personal information. So if you can’t write it down and you’re not
supposed to use the same one – how are you supposed to keep track of all of your passwords? The easiest way to do this is to use a password manager. We prefer to use Roboform. Roboform is an easy to use password and profile manager that docks neatly into your Internet Explorer toolbar and keeps track of all of your passwords for you. Roboform also uses a master password system. You will have one password that accesses all of the passwords in the program. This way you can keep all of your information safe and secure. You can download Roboform for free by http://www.roboform.com.
Spyware Remover Next to spam, spyware is the internet’s biggest annoyance. By definition, spyware is “any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Once installed, the spyware
monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.” The amount of spyware that exists on your pc is dependent on the amount of internet surfing you do. A good rule of thumb here is to scan for spyware once per week or whenever poor system performance surfaces. If you don’t have a spyware scanner, we recommend http://www.webroot.com.
Antivirus This should go without saying, but if your computer is connected to the internet you need antivirus software. With weekly scans and program updates you should be protected from most threats. For added protection, we
recommend using more than one anvtivirus scanner.
Firewall A firewall will keep unwanted visitors out of your computer. You can obtain a firewall either by using software application like ZoneAlarm or Black Ice Defender, or by using a router with your internet connection. For more information on routers plese visit http://www.Linksys.com.
File sharing Basically, file sharing programs are the single biggest security risk you will come across. This is because the only facts you have about the files you are downloading are the file name and the file size. It is quite simple to change a filename to dupe someone into downloading a virus or other malware like keystroke recorders. Our advice – stay away from file sharing at all costs. If you need to use it, make sure you have updated antivirus software installed and running.
Research In a sentence – know what’s out there. http://www.Symantec.com has a section on their website that will serve you well. Knowing what types of viruses exist and how to avoid them will make you a much smarter internet user.
Email protection Most of the antivirus applications available offer email scanning. If yours does not, you will want to get one that does. Email scanning will make sure all of your incoming and outgoing emails are safe for both you and the recipient. Email viruses spread very quickly by using your address book to propagate. Never read email from people you don’t know and always make sure your email scanner is active.
Network security Another way that viruses spread is through computer networks. We have a few quick tips to keep your network safe. Always scan any files that come in from other computers. Even if it’s a file you have brought from home. Never allow a file to be placed on your network until it
has been scanned. The main server should be the only computer with file sharing enabled. By not allowing computer users to transmit files, you can quickly neutralize a threat.
Maintenance Performing weekly virus and spyware scans will go a long way to keeping your computer safe. Defragmenting weekly will also greatly improve performance. If you put in the effort, you will be rewarded with a safe and smooth running pc. Not to mention less headaches!
By following these ten guide lines, you will greatly improve the performance of your computer. You will also generate peace of mind as you gain a new sense of security.

Remove Spyware From Your Computer - 10 Simple Reasons
Is your computer been running slower than normal? Are you worried someone may be able to access your computer and steal your private information and use it against you? If so, these are feelings I have shared with you in the past.
Some time back, my 3-year old computer was running so slow that I had to buy a new computer. Or at least I thought I needed a new computer. Then within a matter of weeks of surfing on the Internet, my new computer was also running so slowly. In addition, some programs did not run well on my computer, and I did not recognize some of the programs that were running on my computer. That scared me most. Were these programs that were tracking my keystrokes on my computer or programs I just not remember installing? I knew I had to find a answer and solution fast.
The truth is, we can all put up with a slow computer, but very few of us would want others to have access to the information on our computers, but that is exactly what can happen when spyware or malware is loaded on our computers without our knowledge.
According to Spyware Nuker’s web site, “Spyware applications are programs and files that hide on your PC's hard drive without your direct knowledge. These programs allow hackers and advertising companies to track your every move, both online and even when you work offline. They can track the websites you visit, the items that you buy online, the emails you send and receive, your Instant Message dialog, and worst of all they can even record your credit card number, personal identification numbers, and all of your passwords. If you use dial-up to connect to the Internet then spyware can be used to bill 900 numbers to your phone bill. This is just a short list of the harm that spyware can cause.”
The web site also provides statistics that show spyware is a huge problem effecting many people. "27.3 million Americans have been victims of identity theft in the last five years, including 9.91 million people or 4.6% of the population in the last year alone."
In addition, it is very easy for your computer to become infected with spyware as "The majority of all downloadable games, music, screensavers, etc., can infect your computer with SpyWare or AdWare. Most people do not know that after simply clicking on a random "pop up" ad, their computers may have been infected with SpyWare or AdWare."
No matter how we get spyware, here are 10 very real reasons you don’t want spyware on your computer.
1. Your computer may start running slower
2. Some programs on your computer will not run correctly
3. You may not recognize programs that are now on your computer because they may have been installed there by a spyware related web site or program you loaded on your computer.
In addition, you might be worried that:
4. Someone might be able to read your e-mails
5. Someone might be able to access your e-mail list
6. Someone might be able to see you track the keystrokes you type
7. Someone might be able to access your credit card information on your pc
8. Someone might be able to access your passwords list on your computer
9. Someone might be able to steal your social security number
10. Someone might be able to track all the web sites you visit
As I mentioned, most of these programs get on your computer with out you even knowing, but another frustrating part is I recognized a few of these programs because I remember installing AND uninstalling them! So now I know that when we install some of these handy little utilities to track passwords online or programs to help with e-mail or keep track of the weather, even if we uninstall them, they may not be gone from our computers. They are still in our computers, waiting to spy on us, at the least.
A great way to find and remove spyware is to run a spyware detector and remover. Most spyware detection and removal software today offers a free scan to verify that you do or do not have spyware on your computer.

Laptops are gaining in popularity these days. Almost everyone is carrying one now either for work or entertainment. Laptops with the latest technology are introduced to the market everyday and these new laptops come with a huge price tag. However, that does not mean you cannot get a good and cheap laptop. I have put together a guide that may help you out in your hunt for a cheap and good laptop.
Buy cheap laptop with older technology
Rapid advance in technology makes it meaningless to buy the latest technology at a high price. When laptop with wireless capability first came to the market, a unit with this technology can cost up till US$2500. NOw after 2 years, you can get a relatively fast centrino laptop for less than US$1000
Buy used or refurbished laptop
The depreciation of a laptop value is so high, that after one year in the market, a laptop can easily lose half its value. So if you are looking for a cheap laptop, look for one which is close to one year old. Not all used laptop are in bad condition. You will be surprised to find that some used laptops are still in good condition because their owners are power users or gamers.
Buy laptop from power users or gamers
I like to buy electronic gadgets including laptops from hard core power users or gamers. Let me share with you why. Gamers or power users usually require the latest and most powerful technology to run their games or power hungry applications. They often will not settle for second best. They also have the tendency to chase after the latest technology. So after one year, they will be bored of what they have and will look to sell off their laptops so that they can buy a new one. Now if you are looking to buy cheap laptops with up to date technology and you happen to have friends who are gamers, do ask them if they are looking to sell off their laptops. Who knows, maybe you can buy a good and cheap laptop from them.
Scan through gaming forums and local gaming community
if you do not already have friends who like to play computer games, then scanning through gaming forums on the internet is another way to get good and cheap deals for used laptop. Internet makes it easy for you to do this. Go to google.com and start searching for gaming forums. Visit each and everyone and see if they have a Trading Section. Software companies do offer their used computers or laptops for sale when their software projects end. I personally had gotten a few good deals for my family and friends.
Look for cheap laptop with at least 512mb memory
This is especially important for used laptop. If the processor speed is slow, then having more memory can compensate for the lack in speed. In fact, The size of memory plays a big part in determining how fast a laptop runs an application. Just by increasing the memory size, you can see a huge difference in speed. A cheap laptop with at least 512mb memory can run most non graphic intensive application easily.

Great Tips To Buying Trading Cards
The trading card industry is one of the most popular in all of collectibles. With everything ranging from race used sheet metal to game-used bats and rookie cards of tomorrow’s hottest stars, the manufacturers of trading cards have changed the way people collect. Some time ago, the greatest insert in a wax pack was a stick of bubble gum, but today it’s so much more.
With such popularity comes great wealth, for both manufacturers and collectors, and a few tips to consider when dealing with trading cards will make the hobby not only one of profit, but also of fun.
Condition. When shopping for trading cards, pay close attention to the condition. A mint card is one that is just like new, with sharp corners, no markings or creases. Some companies actually grade trading cards, while others simply let the shopper decide. Trading cards that are in poor condition are noticeable immediately, but ‘good’ and ‘fair’ ratings are open to interpretation.
Authenticity. If you are in the market for trading cards, take special care to learn as much about the hobby as possible. If you are going to spend big bucks on a single card, make sure that you are getting the real deal. A good example is the Michael Jordan rookie card, which was reprinted years ago. It looks so much like the original that even experts have a difficult time distinguishing the original from the reprint. If you are looking for an expensive card, make sure that it is graded by a reputable company and it never hurts to have it checked again after purchase.
Investment. If you are an investor, trading cards may be the hobby for you. It is inexpensive to get started collecting and the future profits can be high. Investors should consider purchasing rookie cards, which will be the first trading card that a rookie player appears on. If the star rises in fame, so will your investment. Additionally, mint condition cards appreciate the most in value.
Reputation & Research. If shopping for trading cards online, especially, find a company that has been in business for awhile. Look for information relating to their return policy, just incase the card isn’t exactly as described. Always be sure to do your research when purchasing trading cards and check the price guides to make sure you are getting a fair deal.
Have fun Most importantly, have fun when shopping for trading cards. While it is a profitable business venture for some, most importantly it is a hobby and should be enjoyed by all who partake.

Offshore Software Development - 5 Great Tips
As a business owner or manager, the decision to opt for offshore software development can be difficult. As anyone who has experience knows, there are advantages and disadvantages to outsourcing software development. How then, do you balance the risks and rewards and come out on top? Here are five tips to ensure that you receive an excellent return on investment:
1. Complex project management experience. When selecting an offshore software development company, ensure that they have extensive experience in complex project management. The company's internal team should run like a well-oiled machine, and they should have longstanding relationships with their own subcontractors.
2. Specialized knowledge and expertise. The most agile software development companies have an extensive network of specialists. These specialists may not be on the company payroll (which is why the company can offer you significant cost savings), but they can be depended upon to complete the necessary tasks on time and within the budget.
3. Knowledge of your industry. In theory, offshore software development companies should be able to perform custom software development for any type of business. There will be less of a learning curve, though, and greater chances for success, if the company has knowledge of your industry or a related industry. For this reason, ask for referrals and determine if the projects the company has managed are similar to or in alignment with the goals of your project.
4. Delineate areas of responsibility. Chances are, you're considering hiring an offshore software development company because you don't have the in-house expertise to get the job done and know that it is more cost-effective to outsource the project. Nonetheless, you will need to actively participate in a needs assessment and at various benchmarks throughout the life of the project. By creating a clear delineation of areas of responsibility, you will have a clear understanding of the number of staff hours you need to devote to the project, and plan accordingly.
5. High standards. Both you and the offshore software development company you choose should adhere to high standards. Aside from the talent of the technical experts involved, successful custom software development depends upon rigorous testing. The most dependable companies use the highest industry standards in testing each aspect of the products they create so that you receive a product that is ready to implement.
Essentially, the most successful offshore software development companies are competent and flexible, and see their role as an information technology partner who solves your software problems, supports your team, and manages your projects from beginning to end. When you choose such a company, you can rest assured that you will receive an excellent return on investment.

7 Great Computer Tips For Windows Users
An Easy Performance Enhancement
If you’re using the NTFS filing protocol on your system, instead of FAT32, you can get a bit more speed by disabling Windows® Indexing. The downside to this is that searching your drive for a specific file might take a moment or two longer, but everything else should run faster.
To disable this feature open My Computer and then right click on the drive you wish to reset – usually C-drive. Now click on Properties and then uncheck “Allow Indexing Service.” It will take Windows® a few moments to accomplish this task, based on your processor speed. If you have other hard drives, perform the same process for them. After this is done, it’s a good idea to empty the Recycle Bin and then Defragment your hard drive(s).
FREE Software
If you have a system and it does not have an office suite, such as Microsoft Office, and you don’t want to pay several hundred dollars to have one, try Open Office. This is a great alternative to other suites, and it’s free! Simply direct your browser to www.openoffice.org and follow the instructions for downloading and installation. Make no mistake, this free office suite is an extremely powerful set of software tools – easily a match for any competitor.
Internet Explorer (Microsoft’s Internet browser) is unarguably the standard in computers. This is why hackers develop so many malware applications to invade it. If you use a different browser, you have much less chance of an invasion by malicious software. There is a great alternative available, and it’s free. You can download a copy of Firefox at www.mozilla.org/products/firefox. You can even move your Internet Explorer settings into Firefox automatically – so you don’t lose your Favorites, etc.
Laptop Printer Fix
If you’re using a laptop that is running Windows® ME, and you’re having trouble printing through the USB, try this simple fix. Go to the website for the company that manufactures your printer. If you use a Hewlett-Packard, for example, go to www.HP.com and download the appropriate drivers and install them. ME has drivers that recognize the USB printer is present and attached, but not the drivers needed to make it print. Which drivers you download and install will be dependant on your printer. After installing new drivers, update the printer as necessary in the Control Panel.
Save $$$ When Shopping On-line
If you’re making a purchase on-line, and you know the item you want to buy, you can easily compare pricing all across the Internet. This can amount to a very substantial savings.
At this writing, I went to www.mysimon.com and typed in that I wanted to buy a printer: a Canon PIXMA iP4000. The service instantly checked the Internet and returned prices ranging from $62.00 up to $286.00. This kind of price spread is not at all unusual, especially for computers and electronics.
The My Simon website service only checks pricing, it does not provide a platform for purchasing anything, though it does link to such places. It also gives a rating for the sellers and other users’ input regarding their experiences with the company. You can order the results of the search for your product by price, so that you can quickly find the lowest price from the highest rated dealer.
Windows® XP Professional Only
A feature of Windows® XP Professional, that is not available in the Home Edition, is the ability to encrypt files. This encryption prevents others from opening the files in the folder you encrypt. To encrypt one or more a folders, follow these easy steps.
Click Start, then My Documents. Now locate the folder you wish to encrypt and right click on it and choose Properties.
On the General tab, click on Advanced. Put a tick mark in the box for Encrypt Contents to Secure Data. Click okay two times and the confirmation dialog box will appear allowing you to select the folder, the folder and all files, and/or the subfolders within it.
Now you'll be able to place files in this folder (or folders) and since they're encrypted, others will not be able to access them.
Internet Safety
You should never reveal your username or password to anyone who e-mails you and asks for it. This information is frequently asked for by an Internet scheme called “phishing.”
In a common phishing scam, you receive an e-mail that looks quite official. It usually appears to come from a bank or credit card company. A common title for these e-mails is “We need to verify your account information.” Another is “Please logon to your account and verify your settings.” If you do click where instructed, you’ll end up on a site that appears to be the real one. If you fill in the username and password for of your on-line banking account, you can expect serious problems within twenty-four hours.
If you believe that a company or business that you do on-line business with really does require your information, then simply contact them. This way, you will know where you are sending your information, and what it will be used for.
CD Burning Error Fix
Burning music, video, and data CDs has become quite popular over the past few years, and the evolution of the supporting technology has yielded hardware and software that is better than ever – and very reasonably priced. CDs offer a great place to store substantial amounts of data in a small, easily retained format. They also give us new control over aspects of our entertainment.
A relatively common error received during CD burning informs you that the CD cannot be burned, or that there was an error during burning. Of course, you could actually have a defective CD drive, but this is usually not the case.
If you receive a message indicating that your CD cannot be burned, go to the website of your CD drive manufacturer. Look for the list of CD types (manufacturers/numbers) that are compatible with your device. Most often, you’ll find that your CDs are not listed. The two types that seem to have the least difficulty being burned are manufactured by Sony and TDK. These cost a bit more, but they burn very reliably.
Along the same lines – H-P has introduced a new CD burner. This new burner requires the use of special CD blanks, but after you burn your data into the CD, you can flip it over and close the drive again. Then you can use the laser to burn a title for the CD directly onto the CD itself. It’s new technology, but perhaps it will catch on and we’ll see newer, better such devices in the near future.

Speed Up Your Computer’s Performance - 6 Easy Steps
We live in a fast paced world and we’re always looking for the fastest way to get things done. We barely have time to wait for our burger at the local fast food restaurant, our coffee to brew, our microwave popcorn to pop, so who has time to wait around for a slow computer?
Barring adding more RAM to your computer, there are 6 steps you can take to speed up your computer’s performance. Most of these steps will allow you to speed up your computer, free of charge since they are applications already installed on your computer.
One of the first steps you should take is to empty the Recycle Bin. It’s easy to do. Just point your cursor to the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, right-click, and choose “Empty Recycle Bin.”
Next, open up your Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options. Click on “Delete Cookies,” then on “Delete Files.” In the window that appears, check “Delete all offline content” and click OK. Once that’s done, click OK to close the Internet Options window, and close your Internet Explorer.
Those two are steps are the quickest, and simplest ones so that’s why we got them out of the way first. Next, we’ll be conducting a Disk Cleanup. To do this, click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup. The disk cleanup function will now begin calculating how much space you will be able to free up. Once it finishes, it’ll give you a list of files to delete. It should already have some files checked, but you can go through the list and check off all the files you want to delete, then click OK.
Now it’s time to do a disk defragmentation. This can be a long process so you should probably set this up during a time when you’ve got other things going on. For example, set it up, then go watch your favorite TV show, or go mow the lawn, or go workout. You get the idea. To begin go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter. Click Analyze. If you’re lucky, you’ll get the “You do not need to defragment this volume” call-out, but more than likely, you’ll have to click on “Defragment.” If so, click on it, go do something else and come back in an hour or two.
Once that’s done, it’s time to run a spyware scan. Most people don’t realize how easy it is to get infected with spyware, so running periodic scans is highly recommended. You can use any anti-spyware program you choose. Just be aware that no one program gets rid of everything. To play it safe, you should run at least three different programs. You might be surprised by what they find. You may have had spyware running on your computer and not even know it. Once the scans are complete, and all that spyware is taken care of, it’s time for the last step.
This last step is to run an anti-virus scan. Hopefully you have an anti-virus program installed on your computer. If not, I highly recommend you get one as soon as possible. Once the anti-virus program is set, go ahead and run it. This could take anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple hours depending on how many files you have on your hard drive so once again, set it, and then go do something else. Come back in about an hour.
Once all the steps are complete. Restart your computer and you’ll be surprised at how completely nimble it now feels. It’s a good idea to follow these 6 steps at least once per week (some steps you can even set up to be done automatically). By doing this, you will keep your computer performing almost like it did when you first bought it.
